The Endless 'Hungry'

Yesterday was one of those days where, no matter what I ate, it was not enough. Of course, I tried to fill the gaping Hunger Hole with healthy things - a salad with quinoa, an apple, a handful of granola. But towards the end of the day, I have to admit that The Hunger was mainly being staunched by this:

dark chocolate Chex Mix

Can you blame me?! Helloooo, there is Dark Chocolate Chex Mix in the house. It's not like I'm gonna show a lot of self-restraint.

I actually meant to write earlier this morning, but I got so backlogged! This week I've been in a breakfast rut (one that I am in no hurry to get out of, by the way). This has been my go-to for the last few days.

Oat bran hot breakfast peanut butter

Oat bran is back! This bowl was with grated apple, peanut butter, cinnamon, honey, and some raisins. Mmmm. Last fall (2011) I ate oat bran so often that I kind of got sick of it. This week is my first time eating it since then, and I think absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder. I was eating on autopilot this morning while hurriedly trying to finish the rest of this book, which I will tell you more about next week!

I've been doing some editing and administrative work for CVMM, getting ready for the One-Hour Swim tomorrow. I am so ready to be done with this thing! My plan is to divide the hour into 15 minute blocks, and swim 1,050 yards on a 1:25 pace in each block, leaving about 10 seconds rest in between. I think I can hold this pace for about 3 sets, and by the last 15 minute block, I may drop down to 1:30 if I'm super-tired. If I can hold to this plan, I should finish at 4,150 - 4200. Which, as a sprinter/middle-distancer in a long-distance event, would be amazing.

All that remains to be seen, however. I'm due to report to the pool deck at 8:30 AM. Wish me luck!

And P.S., today I made the second batch of Jen's Make-up Cookies this week. My family loved them, and I'm planning to take them to the pool tomorrow for everyone to try out!

    1. Thanks Dayna, try it out! Oat bran is the best breakfast out there. And thanks for the good wishes on the One-Hour. It went great!
