Good News! And WIAW

Happy Wednesday, people! It is an especially good day for me because guess what??

I have a new job!

You may remember my post a few months back, about leaving a job that I absolutely hated. It felt crazy at the time, and I'll admit that there were many times throughout this fall that I questioned my decision to leave, and wondered what in the world I was doing. But God is faithful even when we are faithless (2 Tim. 2:13), and He had a plan working for me! Through a totally serendipitous turn of events, I was interviewed and hired as a marketing coordinator for the Development department of Joni and Friends, an international non-profit serving the disabled.

Not only is this job perfect for my skills, but it is in a sector that I have always wanted to work (international aid), is in service of others, and it's even local! I even have a window in my office! I am so beyond blessed by this opportunity, and stoked to start!

With that explosion of joy out of the way, I believe that today is What I Ate Wednesday, sponsored by Jenn. I always forget to take pictures before scarfing my food down, so I only have a few snapshots for you today -- I'll do better in the future!

Breakfast: Are you surprised to see oat bran again? Protein powder, almond butter, and banana are added.

I've been needing really substantial breakfasts like this to start out the days this week, because for some reason when I wake up I am growling with hunger! On Monday morning, I was midway through a swim when I felt - rather than heard - my stomach roar. Ugh. I think it's because dinners around here have been rather uninspiring of late....

Lunch yesterday was Jen's Carrot Butternut Squash Ginger Soup, which was absolutely delicious. I'm so happy I have leftovers so there's something to eat today!

What are you eating today? Any make-ahead recipes to share?

I am off for one of my last midday swims today before I start work again -- yay! Yesterday our trainer, Brett, came down with the flu, so rather than hit ProActive I did some training at home. I also went for a run because, let us not forget, the Westlake Pancreatic Cancer Research Run/Walk is this weekend! If you're in the area, sign up. If you're looking for another reason to run this weekend, Jason has a great post about the Run for Sherry taking place this Saturday. So get out there and get moving!

Have a great day!

    1. Oh man, I definitely know how you feel. It is a hard time to find work! I wish I had some magic advice to give, but keep working at it -- as a friend told me, "You never fail if you refuse to give up." Keep your head up!
